Wicklow Food and Drink

One of the best things about a self catering holiday in Ireland is the ability to pick up some really delicious produce from the increasing number of high quality producers of great Irish food. Wicklow in no exception and with a growing number of farmers markets and artisan producers – a stay in our Wicklow holiday cottage can be a foodie’s delight. We love the superb beer from The Wicklow Wolf brewery and the famous Avoca cafes at Kilmacanogue and Avoca and the organic Stawberry Tree Restaurant Brooklodge Hotel at Macreddin near Aughrim (both a short drive from Aughavannagh) fly the flag for fresh, locally produced Irish food. In each case you can eat at the location or get some great produce to take away.

Meanwhile there is an increasingly bigger circle of great pubs and restaurants selling beautifully produced homemade Irish food throughout Wicklow including the very popular Happy Pear Cafe and Foodstore in nearby Greystones and Arnelles bakery just over the county border in Kilcullen in County Kildare. Finally -  neither we nor our guests seem able to stay away from our favourite purveyor of the finest pints of Guinness in the land – Pat and Anne at the pub in Glenmalure (pictured above) just over the mountain from Aughavannagh Cottage.
