Roundwood Holiday Cottage

Roundwood lays claim to the title ‘the highest village in Ireland’ lying at 238 metres above sea level and is one of the prettiest villages in County Wicklow. It lies just south of Djouce Mountain and near to the Wicklow Way walking trail. It’s on the road from Dublin to Aughavannagh and many of our guests who rent our Irish cottage speak highly of the pubs in the village, including the Roundwood Inn. Igf you have an interest in golfing in Wicklow, many of Wicklow’s numerous golf clubs are located nearby and the village is a short and pretty drive to Enniskerry and the waterfall at Powerscourt as well as being near to the beautiful mountain road at the Sally Gap – the highest road in Ireland.

The St. Kevin’s Bus Company service from Dublin to Glendalough serves the village, which is about 30 minutes drive to Aughavannagh, making our cottage ideal for anyone looking to rent a cottage near Roundwood. The nearby Vartry reservoir supplies a large part of Dublin’s drinking water and the scenic Vartry Reservoir Drive brings you alongside the Upper and Lower Vartry Reservoirs near the village Roundwood. An earthen dam was built over the Vartry River between 1862 and 1868 to construct the Lower Reservoir and the smaller Upper Reservoir was built later in 1923.
