Wicklow Food

Wicklow Food

One of the best things about a self catering in Ireland is the ability to pick up some really delicious produce from the increasing number of high quality producers of great Irish food. A holiday in Wicklow in no exception and with a growing number of farmers markets and artisan producers – a stay in our Irish cottage can be a foodie’s delight. Established locations such as the famous Avoca cafes at Kilmacanogue and Avoca and the Brooklodge Hotel at Macreddin (both a short drive from Aughavannagh) fly the flag for fresh, locally produced Irish food. In each case you can eat at the location or get some great Irish food to take away. Meanwhile there is an increasingly bigger circle of great pubs and restaurants selling beautifully produced homemade Irish food throughout Wicklow including the very popular Grangecon Cafe and Foodstore in nearby Blessington

Local producers and shops also provide mouth watering delights - examples include Janet’s Country Fayre – yummy chutneys, pickles, salsas, dressings and relishes and of course we can’t seem to stay away from our favourite purveyor of the finest pints of Guinness in the land – Pat and Anne in the pub in Glenmalure just over the mountain from our Irish cottage holiday home.
