The stately house is an important part of Wicklow history and is situated near the Blessington Lakes. Designed in the Palladian architectural style, it was designed by Richard Cassels and has the Wicklow Mountains as a magnificent backdrop. Russborough can provide a wide range of activities for the family from crafts, walks, maze to an interactive exhibition and guided tour of the house.
If you have an interest in art and stay at our Wicklow self catering cottage, Russborough is also famous for the Beit Collection of Paintings. This has provided a significant additional attraction for visitors to this lovely house, being on view in their original Wicklow location. Amongst the finest of the paintings admired by are the four Claude Joseph Vernet paintings entitled Morning, Midday, Sunset and Night. These paintings were painted for Russborough in the 1750s and have remained in the house for most of the last 260 years.
