New Year 2018-19

For those looking to escape from it all for New Year, Wicklow’s Aughavannagh Cottage provides self-catering accommodation in a beautifully restored old farmhouse only 20 minutes from Glendalough and a little over an hour from Dublin. Set in a secluded wooded valley, this really is the spot for a New Year self-catering break in Ireland.

Local activities include climbing the snow-capped Lugnaquilla mountain directly from the cottage, exploring the next-door valley of Glenmalure (the longest glacial valley in Ireland) a visit to the lake and ancient monastic site at Glendalough or enjoying a pint in one of the nearby pretty south Wicklow villages.

At Christmas and New Year, we are available for either of two six-night packages only and our 2018/2019 New Year’s week rate is from Monday December 31 2018 to Sunday January 5 2019 at a rate of €1100.

Originally an old sheep farm, the cottage is located in the wild valley of Aughavannagh below Lugnaquilla, the highest peak in Ireland outside Kerry. Located adjacent to the Wicklow Way walking trail, it’s an ideal location for a New Year’s break. Set on five acres beside a little stream, the cottage has been tastefully restored to provide comfortable holiday accommodation for walkers, hikers or those who just want to get away from it all. And for the New Year we’ll have the cottage decorated, the fire lit and a welcome bottle of Champagne waiting in the fridge!

Our centrally heated cottage comprises:

  • Fully equipped kitchen with all appliances
  • Gorgeous sitting room with open fire
  • Two double bedrooms
  • A twin bedroom and a single bedroom
  • Two bathrooms
  • 5 acres of peace and quiet.

We also provide things like fresh linen and towels, as well as hair dryers and an iPod docking station so you don’t need to carry them around the world with you. The only extras are oil and electricity - metered and supplied at cost.
